History About Nanital
Nainital is referred to in the ‘Manas Khand’ of the ‘Skanda
Purana’ as the Tri-Rishi-Sarovar,the lake of the three sages ,Atri,Pulastya
and Pulaha who were reputed to have arrived here on a penitential piligrimage,
and, finding no water to quench their thirst dug a hole and siphoned water into
it from Mansarovar the sacred lake in Tibet.

The weather is very pleasant throughout the year except during winter months.
The temperature is not very high at any time but in winters it becomes very
cold. The climate of Nainital is regulated by the lake here which showers rain
almost every afternoon. The months of January to March are marked by the snowfall
which is for a very short time.

How To Reach
Nainital by Rail The nearest railway station is that of Kathgodam
which is connected by trains from Delhi and Howrah. The narrow gauge trains
come from Lalkuan which is 55 kms from Nainital.
Nainital by Road The U.P.S.R.T. Corporation provides direct
buses to Nainital from Delhi, Lucknow and major cities of the state. Nainital
is well connected by buses with other parts of the state. Inter state services
are also available.
Nainital by Air The nearest airport is at Pantnagar, 71 km
away. It is connected by Vayudoot services with Delhi. A coach takes the tourists
to Nainital.

Naini Lake is considered a paradise for the adventurous tourists of the country
and for the foreigners.
