Information About Chamba
Chamba is the northwestern district of Himachal Pradesh, in India. It is situated in the bosom of the Himalaya Mountains, and the boundaries are as follows: On the north-west and west, Jammu and Kashmir; on the north-east and east, Ladakh, Lahaul and Bara Bangahlaa; on the south-east and south, the districts of Kangra and Gurdaspur.

the town of Chamba has been the capital of Pahari kings since long.The town was founded by the king Sahil Verman who named the town after her daughter, Champavati.Surrounded by higher ranges Chamba has preserved the ancient culture and heritage and Chamba is known for the elegence of its temples and handicrafts.

Chamba, the land of antiquity, fabulous flora and fauna, majestic mountains, rhymic rivers, virgin vales, bubbling brooks, soothing springs, pious people, rich cultural heritage, art and scenic beauty, is a wonder in itself for every visitor.

Chamba Location
Located between the mighty Zanskar and Dhauladhar ranges, the Chamba valley is one of the most popular destinations in India. The establishment of this place dates back to the 10th century. It is believed that Chamba was named after the daughter of Raja Sahil Verman named Champavati, who is considered to be a deity here.

How To Reach
By Air : The nearest airport is at Gaggal (Kangra) 180 km from Chamba and 140 km from Dalhousie.

By Rail : Chamba town is 122 km from Pathankot, the nearest broad gauge rail head which is linked by direct trains to Amritsar, Delhi, Bombay and Calcutta.

By Road : Chamba is 52 km away from Dalhousie. Bus run Chamba to Pathankot, Delhi, Dharamsala, Shimla, Chandigarh, Jammu and most of the Punjab cities along the national highway.
